Housing Update...

Since so many of you have been asking, here's the update. We are still looking...and waiting...and looking...and waiting. That seems to be the story of our lives, doesn't it? Here's the low-down. We have an offer on the house that you can see on our blog (short sale) and it was going great, but then just stopped. Now, it seems to be moving again. So, that one's just on the back-burner. We have another offer on a property that is a little bigger and doesn't need as much work. We are not the only offers, though. So, we are waiting to hear back which offer the bank chose (bank-owned). And then, we're going out again this Thursday to look at other properties in case either of these don't work out, which is completely possible. So, once we know more, we'll post and let everyone know. Cross your fingers that it happens sooner rather than later!

Monterey With Emilee & Trent

This is the last part of our trip with Emilee & Trent. We had a lot of fun, especially when the sun finally came out and we got to hang out at the beach outside of out hotel in Seaside. (Just outside of Monterey.)

San Fransisco with Emilee & Trent

A couple of weeks ago, Loni's sister, Emilee, and her husband, Trent, came out to visit. We went to San Fransisco the first day of their trip. Unfortunately, it was pouring almost the entire time. But, we were able to finally see the rain stop while we were on Alcatraz. So, here are pictures from there.

We felt bad for Trent whose never been to SF, but this is the best view of the bridge that we had all day.

Robert's Visit

Robert & Kara visited the family this January. Here are some of the pictures that we love from their visit.

For several years now, I have joked around that we should take our pictures for our holiday cards in front of "Hernandez Lane" which is in our old ward boundaries. So, this year, we finally made the decision to go over and take them.

Due to a little mishap in Disneyland, we needed a new camera and since we have been thinking about getting a SLR for awhile now, we finally decided this might be the perfect time to do it.

Potential House...

So, we have been looking for a house recently and we hopefully have found it. It's a short sale just about 1 1/2 miles from where we live right now. We're really excited about it and if all goes according to plan, we should be in the house by March. After looking at houses, we decided that we like a house that has character and has that "home" feeling. It's a little dated and needs some work, but we're thrilled to make some changes and feel really good about it right now. We'll keep everyone posted of course and once we get in and make some upgrades like flooring, we'll post new pictures as well!

Loni's Visit to Utah & Craig's Wedding

Last year when my little sister was married in December, we swore it was the last time in a long time we were visiting Utah in the winter for a few years! (Way too cold!) But, then, my little brother, Craig, decided to also get married in December. So, I braved the snow once again. Enjoy the few pics that I took during my trip! :D

The Logan Temple! Made me think about the days when I would go every Friday afternoon with my roommate, Lindsey! Those were great days!

The view from my favorite place on the USU campus: the old outdoor amphitheater. This is about how it looked when Adam dragged me through the snow to propose to me almost exactly 8 years ago today! Good and wonderful memories!

Disneyland! December 2010

This year, we participated in the Give A Day, Get A Day service project to earn a free ticket to Disneyland. It was a lot of fun because we each made quilts. So, we were able to go to Disneyland this past weekend and spend time with Adam's family and also see our nephew, Ryan, be blessed. Enjoy the photos! We had such a great time!

Halloween Pictures

As our closest friends all know, I love Halloween. Next to Christmas, it is absolutely my favorite holiday all year. I love to dress up and do all of the fun carnival-ly stuff. And my dear sweet husband is always so great to go along with whatever is picked as our costumes. :)

Hopefully it's pretty simple to guess what we went as this year. I'm the "White Rabbit" and Adam is the "Mad Hatter" from Alice in Wonderland.

Adam's mom is the Activities Committee Chair for her ward and they had an "Alice in Wonderland" room this year, so we joined everyone in dressing up as these characters. Here's us with Adam's little sister, Maria, as a brunette Alice.

Yikes is all I will say. We were playing around with some costumes and found this super blonde wig, so here is what I'd look like as a blonde. :) I think I am much too pale to be a platinum blonde! I definitely prefer the "Snow White" look to the "Alice"! :) I can't help but be very prejudice in favor of brunettes! :D

Summer Visit to Utah

This summer we visited my family in Utah. It was a great trip because most of us were all off of work and out of school, so we were able to spend a lot of time together. One of the greatest joys for me was the pics from this day. My brother, Craig, received his endowments and all of the siblings were able to be there. During our trip to Utah this summer, we had a lot of fun. We did a few things that we don't typically do while we're there. So, here are a few pics. :)

This is one of the pics from the demolition derby we went to at one of the local fairs. It wasn't one of the best that I've seen, but it was a lot of fun. Adam had never been to one before so he realized what we were finally talking about.

Girls Camp

Here are some of the pictures of us at Girls' Camp. This first picture is on Bishop's Night with all of the ward leaders and YW that were with us. We made our t-shirts a few weeks before. I'm in the back with my just-washed hair.

One of the nights, we (leaders) played a prank on one of the men leaders by moving his tent while he was out doing the night duties. Apparently, we parked it on a hill and moved his stuff everywhere in the process.

This last week, we found out that our ward boundaries are changing, so I had my last activity as the YW's President. It was definitely a bitter-sweet activity. I am going to miss working with these girls all of the time!

Updates...I promise

I have been awful this last few months! This semester has been really crazy for me. So, after finals next week, I promise that I'll get some updated pictures on here. But for now...here's the latest...

Adam is doing great - still enjoying his job and where we live! I'm doing well too. I have one week of this semester left, then I get a whole 3 weeks off! YAY! We've also been really busy with our callings, but just found out last Saturday that our ward boundaries are changed and we're going to a new ward. We're definitely left with mixed feelings because we have so many great friends in our ward, but also know that there are reasons for these decisions and we need to support our new ward members too. But, more than anything, I'm going to miss the YW that I work with. They have been such a joy and also a great blessing to me. I'm really sad that tonight is going to be my last activity with them all! :(

We don't have any big adoption news at this point, but get to hear good news of our friends and are really hopeful and excited for whatever prospects and experiences we have through this process. We made some pass-along cards and have them on order - so if you're interested in having some to hang on to to pass out if you ever hear of someone who might be interested, please let us know - we'd love to send them to you!

This is a quick update for now, but look back in a couple of weeks and I'll have a few more posts to add here. :)

Visiting the Zoo

One of the things that we did while everyone was here was visit the zoo. Granted, having grown up in Utah, I always thought the Hogle Zoo was small - boy was I wrong! Adam's family visited this week - we got to see his three brothers and also their families and girlfriends. It was a lot of fun to be visiting with everyone.

Accepted

We promised to keep everyone updated on the adoption process. When we picked up our mail after visiting Utah, we found our letter from LDS Family Services. So, it is official, we've been approved for adoption. We're really excited to have gotten this far and although we know that the process later can come with its own unique challenges, it feels wonderful to take this step to starting our family.

We appreciate all of the prayers and support over the last several years. It means so much to us to have such wonderful family and friends. We'll continue to keep you posted of any news and hopefully 2010 will be the year for our family. Please continue to think of us! :)

Emilee's Wedding

The reason for going to Utah this Christmas was because my little sister was married on December 29th at the Salt Lake Temple. Here she is along with her new husband, Trent.

Gingerbread Village!!!

We had so much fun this year on Christmas Eve each taking turns making gingerbread houses. I baked them all day and made the frosting and then we all enjoyed the making of them. Early Christmas at Home

Since we were going to visit my family in Utah for the holidays, we celebrated early with Adam's family here. It was great to be able to spend some of the holiday season with them!
This is Adam's gingerbread house that he specially made for our friend's little boy because we knew that he would appreciate it most of anyone we knew! All little Noah kept saying for about 10 minutes was, "that's awesome", "wow, that's awesome". It was great to see him enjoy it so much.

This is our Christmas tree lit up this year. We only were able to enjoy it for a very short time, but it was nice to have it up for a little while.

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving this year, we tried out a recipe from a good friend of ours. It was fantastic. 1 lb. of bacon on top and a butter herb rub along with onions, oranges, and celery stuffed inside! Yum!

Adoption!!!

As many of you know, we've decided to adopt through LDS Family Services. We're really excited about this new chapter in our lives and feel good that this is the right decision for us. Right now, we're in the middle of the approval process. We've completed most of the paperwork, and are just waiting to hear back from our Utah background checks and have our home visit. It's definitely been busy getting all of it done up to this point so far, but we're feeling good about how much we've been able to get completed in such a short amount of time.

We decided that since we've never gone in and had family pictures in a studio, this was the perfect excuse. After asking several people which of these and other pictures we had taken were the best, almost everyone chose this first one. So, we've decided to use this as our main profile picture for the adoption website.
We love the face on Koda in this one! (We also look pretty good ourselves!)

Adam' Surgery

Adam had surgery this Wed morning. It was for his deviated septum and also to enlarge his sinuses so that he can breathe better. The surgery went really well. They had to do a lot more work than the doctor initially thought, but it was a success. Adam's starting to feel a lot better now. He's been a little out of it while on some of the medication. I think yesterday was the worst part because that was when they removed the bandages and took out the gauze. It wasn't gruesome to watch, but just made me feel bad because you could tell how much it had to have hurt from watching it all happening.

Normally every year, I get really into Halloween - we even have our costumes all picked out usually in September, but for whatever reason - I just was not that into it. So, we opted to just be something we could do in a couple of minutes. :) We had fun though with Maria and her friends and also Adam's mom. For our trunk or treat, the YW and Loni painted faces.

Adam's birthday present was a Wii system. We also got a Wii fit, so here's Adam and Maria playing the hula hoop game.

Maria spent the night and we played games all Saturday as well. It was a lot of fun especially watching Adam and Maria try to outscore each other.

Lake Tahoe Trip

This last weekend, we went to Tahoe with Adam's parents and Maria. We camped out for two nights and we spent a lot of time at the lake. It was beautiful and peaceful there. We're already talking about taking a day trip and kayaking on the lake later this summer.

The second night, it began to get really windy when we were swimming in the lake - so, we went back to the tent. It started to rain within 10 minutes of getting back to camp. Then, as we sat inside the tent, it started to hail. Here's a picture outside of our tent.

With our Young Women, we went to the temple last week for a picnic. This is a few of the girls that are in our ward and some of the leaders. I just absolutely adore them so I had to include them!!!Here's a great group shot of everyone that worked up at camp from our ward! And of course all of the amazing girls that were able to come with us!!!

Here's a fun one that I took with the girls. Here I am shooting rifle BBGuns. This was a lot of fun and once I noticed how the gun was shooting (too far left), then I started hitting the target right on. I definitely earned my charm for hitting the bulls-eye a few times!

July 4th Fireworks

Here's the big daddy of fireworks that we bought. I think we found the perfect recipe - buy lots of little cheaper fireworks, then spend a little more and get the big finale firework.

I think that Andrew enjoyed this a little too much. It's a smoke bomb that lasted over 2 1/2 minutes. The whole yard was just covered by the end and you could barely see anything.

Here's the big baby after it was set off. Adam thought it looked like a rocket launcher. This firework alone lasted more than 5 minutes. It was fantastic!

Visiting Logan

This is one of my favorite places on campus. It's the outdoor ampitheater. I love this place because you can see the Logan temple right through the trees and as you walk around you can see the whole valley. This also is where Adam proposed. We used to take walks here all of the time when we lived in Logan.

Happy 6th Anniversary!

I forgot to add that it was our 6th Anniversary on May 8th this year. Adam was sweet and bought me my favorite flowers. This was the first day - by the time they all opened, there wasn't enough room for them all in this one vase - so we had to move them around. But, they were absolutely beautiful!

Dave's Graduation

Adam's brother, David, just graduated from the CHP Academy - so we were able to go with the family to his graduation ceremony. Here's a picture of a few of us: Loni, Cari, Kayla, David, Ellie, and Adam.

I thought that I would include this just because I love this picture of Cari & Dave. Cari is waiting to be able to pin his badge on his uniform. Congratulations David! Good luck next week!

Here's a fun picture of Adam and Ellie. Ellie and Cari's mom were with us in the overflow graduation area. So, we spent a lot of time that day together. :) We definitely will miss her!

New Car

So, Adam and I finally gave in and bought a new car. It's a Hyundai Sonata. You can't tell here, but it's actually "cocoa metallic" - so, it's basically a sparkly brown in the sun.

For Easter, I gave Adam some water guns - so here he and Maria are having some fun. I love this picture because you can even see the water coming out of the gun.

Our adorable niece, Ellie, also joined in for the fun. She had the little squirt gun and went around shooting Adam and Maria.

Adam's brother John came to visit the family last week. It has been such a long time since we've all seen him - so it was great to visit and hang out. We didn't take a lot of pictures, but here's a pic of Adam and the boys out back and also one of John playing guitar.

Rainy Days...

It seemed to rain forever. It was actually making me really miss the snow! I hate nothing more than being soaked everytime I walk to and from my car! I got a little tired of Koda getting soaked too and having to dry him off each time we went outside or for a car ride. So, I just finally zipped him up in my sweater whenever we went to the car. Obviously, he doesn't fit well and by the time Adam took the picture, he was ready to jump out!

Koda's Valentine Haircut! UGH!

So, Koda was in desperate need for a haircut, so, I took him in about a week before V-day and as you can see, he was all "dolled up". I went to a different place, and although they did an ok job on the actual cut, as you can see, he totally looked like a girl! And then to top it off, he smelt like cheap, old lady perfume for a couple of weeks after - even after he'd been outside tons! Guess, it's back to cutting him myself...good thing he only gets one every six months or so.

Here's a picture that I just love! Adam bought a remote control car with some of his Christmas money and he plays with Koda. Notice that Koda's stanced to start playing. Sometimes he even chases the car around! It's hillarious!

Christmas

These are a few of the pictures of us opening presents Christmas morning. We decided this year to spend it at home. It was nice to get up and do other things before opening presents. We read of Christ's birth and also did a few other things before gift opening. We were able to spend the afternoon/evening with Adam's family. It was a very nice holiday. The only sad thing is that we miss the rest of our family members - Loni's and Adam's both. It will be nice to see them all again hopefully soon.

Gingerbread Houses

Usually, Loni works on Gingerbread houses with Adam's family, but the timing was off - so we made our own. We made three houses - the top one is one of Loni's - and the bottom one is Adam's. We had some "frosting issues" with the first batch, so, it wasn't as pretty as Loni usually likes them - but it was a fun family night anyway!

Christmas Tree & Koda

This is our first official Christmas tree. The 3-foot trees we have had for years do not count! We were so excited after buying this last year post-Christmas that we put it up before Thanksgiving - which in my family, I believe, is a federal offense! :) They were all appalled when they heard. We love this tree especially because we didn't put half of the branches on the tree in the back, and you can't tell at all. (There just wasn't enough room in this small space for the full width of the tree.)

This is totally just for fun - one of those, random times. I promise, we are not pet owners who dress up our dogs every day! But, this reminded me of a picture in my favorite hoodie that I bought for Koda when he was just a wee little puppy. I included one of those so you can see just how small he was. I think this was a size extra small and obviously, it was huge on him (he was only 3 pounds), but now, a small is too small for him (he's only 5 1/2 pounds now).

Monterey Bay Vacation

We were able to have Loni's sister, Emilee, visit for a few days before she heads off to be an Aggie! We drove down to Monterey on Sunday, and spent most of the day enjoying the beach. It was nice to just relax. Monday, we went to the aquarium, which we loved, and also went to Pebble Beach and drove through Carmel. On Tuesday, we took her to Discovery Kingdom. Anything in California is better than Lagoon!! :) (Note for all of our Utah family & friends.) We also had Cari's baby shower on Wednesday, and then Loni & Ems hung out on Thursday. They saw a movie and we of course went to In&Out while she was here. :)
